LMS & Character Design

Project Overview
In 2017, England and Wales Cricket Board rolled out All Stars Cricket; a programme to introduce 5 - 8 year old children to cricket, which was delivered nationwide at over 2000 centres, across 8 weeks.

All Stars Activators (programme volunteers) were required to undertake the Activators training, which gave them the skills to run this programme.
My Contributions
To select each elearning module, the Activator would be presented with the following isometric map that I created of the All Stars Cricket town, which showed All Stars Cricket activities taking place. By using Google Maps code, the Activator was able to view different zoom levels on this map. On the last two zoom levels, pins would appear which would represent four different modules. The Activators could click on each pin to enter each module.

LEVEL 1

Level 1 of the isometric map introduces the user to the LMS and gives them a brief explanation about how to access the modules. This screen was designed to entice the user in, and welcome them onto their Activator learning journey. The main All Stars town can be seen in the background but is out of focus to draw the users eye onto the landing welcome message. From here, the user can press to zoom in onto the different levels of the map to reveal more information.

LEVEL 2

Level 2 allows the user to see the isometric map fully, the different parts of the town reflect the different modules that the users can click on and enter. The pins without the lock icon are currently available to the user. Once the module is complete, the different pins are displayed in full colour and the next module is released as available.

LEVEL 3

On the final zoom level, the user can see the different modules on the map and the exact status of each module at that point, whether that be "Available", "Completed" or "Locked". At this level, the user can see more detail in the design; cars being driven on the roads, people walking around and ducks in the pond. There are different sections to the map, such as the All Stars HQ, the school, the residential area and a cricket ground.

All Stars Avatars

I created a variety of different avatar characters who are wearing the uniform that the children and the Activators would be wearing in the training sessions. These characters are used throughout the four modules in different scenarios.
We were under a very tight timeframe and certainly put the Dynamic team under pressure, but they always pressed on and did the best possible job.

They took our brief and turned it into something much bigger than we thought it could be.

This has allowed us to train a brand-new team of volunteers (in excess of 4,000 people) with the experience the ECB are looking to create through All Stars Cricket – a fun, safe and fantastic first experience for kids in cricket across the country.
